Words
No words do justice to the greatness of the opus magnum that The Unfeasible Adventures of Beaver and Steve is. Just trying to think up anything worthy causes me unimaginable pain!
Alright, I'll give it a go: Beaver and Steve is a webcomic featuring a dinosaur and a beaver. The dinosaur's name is Steve, the beaver's name is... yes, Beaver. Their adventures, or rather misadventures, tend to get disastrous, usually thanks to Steve's carelessness or just plain stupidity. Steve is enthusiastic, childish and irresponsible. (He's my hero!) Beaver, on the other hand, is cautious, resourceful, and a good cook! Also, his brain is not in idle mode most of the time, unlike Steve's.
The artwork is quite simple, yet doesn't lack nifty details. I'm impressed by the range of emotions visibly expressed by the characters - especially Steve's innocent "I didn't do that!" is magnificent.
My first, and lasting impression from this comic could be summed up as "I don't know what James Turner smokes, but I definitely want some of that stuff!" That guy's imagination is epic.
More than words
Waste no more time with this lowly sampler, and head off to BnS website to start reading from the first strip. Do it as soon as possible. Immediately. NOW!
Merchandise
You missed the t-shirts (the brown one with Beaver riding a unicorn and Steve riding a squid is fabulous), so you'd better get the books (Volume 1: A Shoeful of Trouble, Volume 2: The Flaky Crust of Disaster) while the supplies last. Buy both of them at once to get a discount :-)
You might also like James's other books: Super Animal Adventure Squad and Mameshiba: On the Loose! No, they're not as awesome as Beaver and Steve, but they're worth reading anyway.
Miscellaneous
A realm of onomatopoeias: From AAAH to ZZZZZZ, there are more than 340 different onomatopoeias. While AAAH and ZZZZZZ may sound ordinary-slash-boring, I can guarantee you'll find plenty of truly unusual ones. There's even a handy list of all the onomatopoeias used in BnS. KA-SHOE-BOOM!
Oh, and regardless of how much I try to ignore the Valentine's Day - I can't bear to be without you is simply brilliant.
